Universal truths

There are some things that, no matter where you live in the world, always hold true. A prime example of such a universal truth is that MEETINGS SUCK. Regular classes ended last Friday, and students were here Monday and Tuesday for organized "fun." This entire week, however, we have been subjected to round after round of meetings. I realize these are a necessary evil, and some of these meetings have been incredibly productive. (Especially the English department lunch "meeting" at a local restaurant/sports bar, where we had the pleasure of busting about 10 students who opted to skip out of the games day at school and have lunch out instead.)

As is always true with meetings, though, some are just unbearably long and pointless. Yesterday's meeting about next year's calendar really could have been about 30 minutes long, but instead we chose option b, which involved talking in circles for nearly two hours and lots of good ol' redundancy. Redundant repetitiveness, if you will.

I think maybe it's just that we're all so exhausted and ready for a break. This means we're all tired, mentally and physically, and rather short-tempered. A good month or so of not being here will be very good for all of us. Some are packing to move home, some are packing to visit home, some are just wanting time to rest. Me, I'm anxiously awaiting Saturday, when three friends from America arrive. Saturday (or even Friday at 12:30 when I get to be DONE) cannot possibly come fast enough. *sigh*
