Tough Beans

There comes a time in every young boy kitty's life when he starts to notice things. Girl kitties, for one. Mangy tomcats roaming his backyard, for another. Our wee beastie, Beans, hasn't noticed the first, but the second he definitely has.

There's a dark, spotty tomcat who has been lurking about our backyard for the past few weeks, and just days ago, Beans took notice. He and this older, larger, surlier cat had a good yelling match on opposite sides of the window, which ended when the stray thumped his paw against the pane of glass and stalked off. Beans had been told. He isn't taking "rrrrrrrrraooooowww! THUMP" for an answer, though, and he still watches his yard vigilantly for signs of the mangy tom.

Before this turns into a territory war, we've decided to, er, nip things in the bud. Poor Beans shall be de-beaned, so to speak, later this week. Poor kitty. As I type, he's sitting smack in the middle of the living room rug, licking himself merrily. Lick away, wee Beans, all good things eventually come to an end.
