I woke up this morning slightly disturbed. I had the theme song from Laverne & Shirley going through my head. I don't know why. It's been bothersome. I'm not entirely sure why. It's not like I've been watching the show. (Oddly enough, there is a definite lack of kitschy 70s & 80s sitcoms on Asian TV.)
We do have the song on our iPod, but this is only because back in college I downloaded it off of Napster or Morpheus or one of those other free illegal mp3 services that have since gone the way of cassette tapes and 5 inch floppy discs. I downloaded it out of amusing kitschy nostalgia. I burned it onto a CD for the same reason. That's why it's on the iPod now, well that and to bug my wife, but that's another story. So now, while my little 7th graders peer edit each other's short stories, we're listening to other songs from iTunes, partly to keep them working, but mainly to get that song out of my head.
So now, as a gift to all of you, here it is, "Making Our Dreams Come True," the opening theme from Laverne & Shirley. (Courtesy of some dude's Opening song site.)
Making Our Dreams Come True

We're gonna do it!
Give us any chance we'll take it,
Read us any rule, we'll break it.
We're gonna make our dreams come true.
Doin' it our way!
Nothing's gonna turn us back now,
Straight ahead and on the track now.
We're gonna make our dreams come true,
Doin' it our way!
There's nothing we won't try,
Never heard the word "impossible."
This time there's no stopping us,
We're gonna do it!
On your mark, get set, and go now,
Gotta dream and we just know now.
We're gonna make that dream come true.
And we'll do it our way, yes, our way,
Make all our dreams come true.
And we'll do it our way, yes, our way,
Make all our dreams come true
For me and you.

You know, I just can't figure out why, but for some reason this post reminded me of Matt Clark... Hmm...
