Save me, Jebus!
Some of my coworkers are worried about my soul. And Travis's. In our morning meeting today, Travis gave a PowerPoint presentation on academic integrity, MLA citations, and that kind of fun stuff. Our laptop was hooked up to an LCD projector, so before the presentation started our computer wallpaper was on full display.
Our wallpaper is a photo I took from the rooftop of our hotel in Istanbul. It's of Suleymaniye Mosque at sunset, and-if I do say so myself-is a really good photo. We set it as our wallpaper simply because it's pretty to look at. This, apparently, is quite worrisome.
"Mrs. Erin. That is a mosque," one coworker solemnly informed me.
"Yes, it's from Istanbul."
"Mosques are where Muslims pray."
"Yes..." I was beginning to wonder where this was going. Were we playing a rousing game of Point Out the Obvious?
"Not Christians."
"Right. Christians go to church," I replied helpfully.
My coworker gazed at me somberly for a few seconds, then nodded and walked away.
Next time I could use one of our photos from the Buddhist temples we visited in Thailand, or one of me in a headscarf inside the Blue Mosque in Istanbul. For this person and a few others, I think photos of me drinking champagne or beer, or even playing a game of cards would be scandalous and cause for concern.
This could be a really fun game.

One of my pics on my wallpaper (they rotate) is of Borabadur (yeah-I can't spell that). I guess if there is some sort of eternal punishment for cross faith comptuer decorations at least we'll be in the same boat.
