Civic doody

I think the U.S. government tries to punish its expatriates by making overseas absentee voting SUCK. Like good citizens, Travis and I voted. Or we think we voted. We certainly tried, and Lord only knows what will happen or what has happened to our ballots once they left our hands. Maybe some Indonesian goat is eating them for lunch. Maybe our county courthouse will receive them on time (we used a non-FedEx courier service that may not be as timely as they promise) and will open them and say, "Ah, those nice Armknecht kids that moved to...where was that again? Bali?" then proceed to accurately count our votes. I'll let you all in on a secret. I really wanted to vote for Martin Sheen for president (he does such a good job on the West Wing!!! Bartlet for America!) but I didn't. Bush and Kerry are a pair of dangling chads, if you ask me...but then, no one did ask me and I think political tyrades on blogs are kind of annoying...no, political tyrades in GENERAL are VERY annoying. So there!
Things are Indo-riffic as always, whatever that means. Two of the 10th grade classes were switched around, just for English, into ESL and non-ESL classes. I have the ESL kids and they're seriously what keeps me going. They're so cool, and they really want to learn and get better at English. We played games last class, games that really made them use vocab and communication skills, but they were completely fooled. As one of them said, "We played games today! We didn't have to learn!" Haha, suckers. I love 'em.
Fifty-two days until we come home for Christmas. Yay! I'm going to miss being home for Thanksgiving (in fact, I'll miss it altogether, because I'll be in the middle of three fun-filled days at Character Building Camp with a herd of students), but we American expats will have a belated celebration that weekend. We might have to watch soccer instead of real football on TV, but it'll do!
