That's what she said

I was grading 8th grade quizzes this afternoon and I nearly shot coffee out of my nose reading one.

The word was "snickered." The girl, one of the bright stars of her class, identified the part of speech and defined it correctly. She then had to use it in a sentence. Her sentence was as follows.

"The girls snickered when the scientist said homo erectus."

Tee hee!

I don't suppose I should tell her that when I shared it with my colleagues, we also snickered.
