Whistling in the dark

So...it's dark. And warm. Here in Indonesia we're subject to frequent blackouts. The power goes of for 5, sometimes 50 minutes and anywhere in between. It's been out now for, oh, four hours and apparently it's out all over. Like, Jakarta and most of the rest of Java, along with potentially some parts if not all of Bali. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. Our computer has its battery fully charged, but we're only using it a tiny bit in case this lasts for a while. We have candles all over our house, and now we're mainly staying busy keeping our semi-doofy cat from singeing his whiskers all off. For the third time, might I add. We call him Bean Dip, affectionately.

It's a good thing we needed to buy some groceries, because our freezer-refrigerator loss won't be too great. Sure, our dinner tonight will be a bit weird, but meat with a side of meat on a rare occasion never hurt anyone. We'll just pretend we're on the Atkins diet or something.

We aren't sure if there'll be school or not tomorrow. There is a big mother of a generator on the grounds, but right now it has to work to power the boarding house, where about 90 students are living. It's good for our usual little outages, but I don't know if it'll handle a big one like this. Bummer...if we get the day off it means sitting around with no AC or movies or anything at home! I could do work, but that's no fun. I guess we'll see. Please enjoy some of your electricity and think of us!
