Why I don't have internet; or, why I hate Telkom
We don't have internet service at home because we did not pay our bill.
We did not pay our bill because we did not receive a bill. This means we did not know how much money we owed, when it was due and where we should send it.
Turns out we cannot make payments by bank transfer, and so our only option is to drive all the way to Bogor and pay the bill in person.
Telkom's office closes at 3 p.m. We get out of school at 3:20, so as you can see this does pose a bit of a problem, doesn't it? Of couse, we weren't informed of this until we arrived at the closed office at 3:45 today. Swell!
This is the same company that (surprise!) does not tell its new DSL customers that they should turn off their router while it is not in use, otherwise they will get charged exhorbitant usage fees. They wait until you get your first bill (which you don't get, so your internet gets shut off so you have to call and find out that way--FUN!!!) to let you know this, and then explain it once you ask why a bill that should be roughly $30 is now closer to $150. Effing brilliant customer service, it is. Brilliant.
I think I am going to go find something large and immobile. Then I am going to smack my forehead against it until I don't want to kick every single employee of Telkom.
Good day.
