Hey, I know! Let's form a committee!
Yeterday, a massive blackout hit Java and Bali (two of the Indonesian islands, we live on Java near Jakarta and spend vacations in Bali) and most of both islands sat around in the dark until somewhere after 9 p.m. The Jakarta Post ran a really funny photo online today of people in an electronics store purchasing things by candlelight. At least I found it funny, in an ironic sort of way.
The Post also ran an article about the power outage. It seems like there are big problems with the Java-Bali power grid, and although the government and others are aware of it, not much is being done. So goes almost everything in Indonesia. The response to a lot of problems seems to be, "Huh...yeah, that does suck! Hmm...guess we should do something about that, huh?" And that's about it.
Perhaps they should form a committee and have meetings. This seems to be the logical solution to any problem almost anywhere in the world. Let's have meetings! Meetings are good times. Everyone loves a good meeting. I know I do! Meetings never make me want to put blunt objects through my eyes. Or the eyes of anyone else. Ever.
